After receiving your Notary Public (OH) Commission, listed below are the next steps to complete in preparation for your signing agent career.
- Obtain E and O Insurance - which is available through our site under the "E & O Insurance" tab located at the top right
- Obtain your personal background check
- Create an LLC or obtain an EIN number from the IRS.
- Contact your Auto Insurance Provider (Inform them that you will be using your vehicle for travel signing agent. appointments, so they can update your policy accordingly
- Reference our past blog post on directories that you can sign up for that will populate the databases allowing associations to contact you for orders
- Review the Notary Closer Certification course offered by the Ohio Land Title Association for additional training
- Decide if you would like to continue with your RON, Remote Online Notary License offered on our site
I also recommend that you locate a mentor or another fellow signing agent and ask if you would be able to shadow them for a signing. This way, you are able to see a live signing- and also be able to ask questions to the signing agent post appointment in case you need more information on things.
